Jackson to contest Motorsport UK Pirelli Ravenol Welsh Rally Championship

19:00 on 7th February 2022 – what is the significance of that time and date? It’s the opening of entries of the first round of the 2022 Motorsport UK Pirelli Ravenol Welsh Rally Championship, the main championship of choice for Matthew Jackson Rallying in 2022.

Having won the 1400cc class championship in 2016, Matthew returns to the series with a new car, hoping to continue on the successes and pace previously shown. Re-joining Matthew in the passenger seat will be 2021 BTRDA Targa champion co-driver, Sasha Heriot. Matthew & Sasha have previously achieved a number of class wins so hope to add to the tally in 2022.

In 2022, the Motorsport UK Pirelli Ravenol Welsh Rally Championship will feature strong media presence with an increase in social media activity along with the all-important live streaming from events. Whilst evaluating all championship options, these elements were key to ensuring exposure for all involved with the rallying efforts for 2022 as well as the inclusion of quality events in the calendar.

Matthew & Sasha will be working alongside Carbon Positive Motorsport in 2022 ensuring the rally car will not only be carbon neutral, but carbon positive, a huge statement in the modern world. More on that in the coming weeks!

The calendar of events:

26th March: Rally North Wales – Dolgellau

9th April: Rallynuts Stages – Builth Wells

21st May: Plains Rally – Ruthin

12th June: Red Kite Stages – Neath - CANCELLED

9th July: Nicky Grist Stages – Builth Wells

3rd September: Woodpecker Stages – Ludlow

15th October: Wyedean Stages – Ross on Wye

29th October: Cambrian Rally – Llandudno

The team will also register for the BTRDA Rally series as there are a number of cross over events with the ability to pick up further events later in the year to make the double!

The season will kick off in the coming weeks with a test session in the new Ford Fiesta R2T. In only a matter of weeks, the team will line up on the start line of Rally North Wales in Dolgellau with the aim of kick starting their championship campaigns in 2022.

Of course, to be ultra competitive and to bring the silverware home, Matthew & Sasha are continuing to work with new and potential partners. If you would like to come onboard, or simply know more about our plans and how we aim to bring a ‘green’ rally car championship success, please contact matthewjacksonrallying@gmail.com, it’s a lot more accessible than one might first think!
