Junior 1000

Matthew's rally career began back in 2008 when he attended the Formula 1000 open day for the inaugural Junior 1000 rally championship. With the bug for the sport now in full effect, it wasn’t long before Matthew was the owner of his very first rally car. A number of hours over this school summer holiday would see the car ready to compete in the inaugural J1000 rally championship.

March 6th 2009 would be the day history was made when 16 year old Matthew hit the stages for the first time. Over the course of the 6 events of the season, Matthew would put in some strong performances to end the year in 6th place overall an 1st 16 year old in the extremely competitive championship, an extremely good feat given the experience and budget of the crew.  By competing in the Formula 1000 junior championship, Matthew was already ahead of the game by the time he could graduate into 'senior' events having already achieved a number of miles under his belt before even holding a UK driving licence!
