2020

2020 was set to be the start of an extremely exciting and rewarding couple of years. Matthew had purchased an Ex-Prodrive, Subaru Impreza WRX STi, the iconic rally car. Boasting 300bhp, Hewland dog box, Ohlins dampers, anti lag and so on, it had all the potential for some great results.

After using the car on Wales Rally GB National as the zero car, Matthew had some miles under his belt in the car and had identified the car was mechnically in a good position, confidence high.

The team had drafted in the young, keen Will Atkins into the co-drivers seat for the year. To start the year, Matthew completed the zero car duty on the Cambrian rally once again. This would give more miles in the car ensuring everything was okay and to get comfortable with the machine, as well as fulfilling Matthew's official duties.

The first round of the BTRDA champioship for the crew therefore was the Malcolm Wilson Rally. Unfortunately, in the week leading up to the event, Matthew was diagnosed with shingles and was deemed not fit enough to compete on the event. Gutted doesn't even come close.

As we all well know, a global pandemic then hit. Covid-19 made its way around the world and there would be no multi venue events for over 1 year. The big 2 year plan, in a fast car, shelved.
