2016

After a year of extremely challenging times in 2015, the decision to continue in the BTRDA 1400's was made and some more developments completed o the car ahead of the exciting year. Having clinched the John Easson award at the end of 2015, Matthew set out to right the wrong of the previous year. With a very solid start to the year with 3 podium places, some momentum was lost after a small incident on Rally North Wales causing a moderate amount of damage to the front of the car. After pulling out all the stops, the team made it to the Plains Rally. However due to the impact, the power steering had taken a knock and unfortunately failed before midday service. Not waning to risk any further damage, the crew retired. After an extremely positive result on the crews first visit to the Carlisle Stages, a driveshaft failure put pay to any result on the Nicky Grist Stages, just 1 mile into the event. After a battle against time, a new pair of driveshafts were installed ahead of another creditable 2nd in class for the pair on the Woodpecker Rally. With 1st in class 1.4S secured, Matthew was able to turn his attention to completing a lifelong dream, competing on Wales rally GB. For this event, a Subaru Impreza N10 was hired from TSD Motorsport, giving the youngster a chance to try his hand in a 4WD car against the best drivers in the world. After a trying weekend with Matthew battling illness, a superb result of 11th overall was achieved, Matthew's best result in his career so far.
