2022 – A winning year for Jackson & Heriot
The end of the 2022 rally season is upon us and the championship tables have been confirmed. Matthew & Sasha are pleased to confirm they have won class W4 in the Pirelli Ravenol Welsh Rally Championship as well as winning the Front Wheel Drive category overall and finishing in the runner up spot in the two wheel drive category overall.
Heading into 2022 the team had some firm goals, finish each event they entered, get experience of the new car and build the pace as the miles went by. After a very wet, but successful test 2 weeks ahead of the first round, the team were ready to start the championship. The aim for the year quickly escalated after a 2nd in class stage time on the very first stage, just 1 second behind the leader. Matthew & Sasha then emerged at the end of the last stage as the class winners, a fine achievement on their first outing in the new car.
The same trend would continue through the remainder of the 4 events, with the pair taking the class win on 3 of the events, making it 4 from 5 class wins. A superb 1st front wheel drive overall on the Plains Rally and 3rd BTRDA on the Rallynuts stages are just 2 highlights.

Rally North Wales – 1st in class, 16th overall interclub
Rallynuts Stages – 1st in class, 3rd Silver star
Plains Rally – 1st in class, 14th overall interclub
Nicky Grist Stages – 4th in class
Woodpecker Rally – 1st in class

The year was then rounded out for the crew by driving the ‘Zero’ safety car on the Cambrian Rally in the Bowler Defender Challenge Rally car. A new experience for them in such a different car, however with the experience gained of the zero car role over the past few years, a role they completed successfully once again.

2022 in summary has been a fantastic year for Matthew, Sasha and whole of the team. To walk away with the class title is beyond their expectations and only goes to show that, in the right car, with the right resource, what they can achieve.
Planning for 2023 has started in earnest. The team would like to continue with this momentum in 2023, however, this will only be possible with the addition of some partners and sponsors. More information on the plans for 2023 will be released very soon, however if you would like to come onboard in any form, please reach out, we’d love to hear from you!
Matthew & Sasha would like to pass on their thanks to all below. Without the input and dedication, none of this would have been possible!
