Malcolm Wilson Rally - Update

It is with deep regret that I have to inform you that we have had to withdraw our entry to this weekend’s Malcolm Wilson rally due to ill health. I have been suffering with shingles over the course of the last few days and although there are signs of improvements, the decision has been taken to not risk prolonging the recovery by still competing in the event.

Whilst there are no strict restrictions from the doctors to drive the car, the advice has been to wear loose clothing, no dirty/dusty environments, no rubbing/damaging the skin surface and plenty of rest. With the next round of the championship just 4 weeks away, any delay in recovery could also hinder that event and clearly, the above points are difficult to achieve in a rally environment. We have clear goals for the 2020 season and starting an event with other factors potentially taking away concentration and commitment will not help achieve these goals. It’s even more frustrating as the car is ready to go on the trailer with the route notes reviewed and completed, but, our focus now turns to the Rallynuts stages in April.

We will now also add an additional event to the calendar at a further stage in the year of which aims to add to our exposure and learning of the year. We still have enough scoring rounds in the MRF Tyres BTRDA rally championship, so all is still to play for!

I have to send my apologies to all that have helped us be ready for the event and for the support in the past few days, particularly to my new co-driver, Will and the whole C1-R team. Good luck to all competing this weekend and my best wishes to all the organisers for a successful event.

We’ll be back in a few weeks’ time.

Matt
